About The Final Shelter

The former conservation scientist Phoebe Jones is tired of the collapse of human decency in a society hollowed out by fear and corruption. When a mysterious silver card arrives—an invitation from the secretive Honeycomb Corporation—Phoebe is told she's been chosen. No explanation. Just a promise: survival.

Skeptical but intrigued, Phoebe begins to investigate. Why are they building bunkers? Why are they already inviting people? What do they know that we don't?

Her research to find answers leads her to fragments of prophecies, and even information from ancient clairvoyants. As international tensions escalate, with unexplained events preceding a potential world conflict and the end of days on Earth, Phoebe must make a decision.

However, the journey to the bunker becomes a brutal test of her principles, trust, and faith. A challenge to everything she thought she knew about science, fate, and what it means to begin again.

The Final Shelter is a thought-provoking dystopian novel that blends realism with mysticism. Through grounded characters, quiet courage, and an unexpected revelation, Rob Ramos delivers a story shaped by belief, betrayal, and enduring hope.

Biography

Rob Ramos is a storyteller, documentary writer, and world traveller. He has written several books and over 100 short educational documentaries covering a range of topics, including geography, history and science. His new book, The Final Shelter, is scheduled for release in July 2025.

After living in nine countries and collecting more languages than socks, Rob now calls a Mediterranean country home, where his beloved wife lovingly bullies him into cooking his famously delicious recipes, even though he swears kitchens are torture chambers and anything above 23°C is a personal attack.

The youngest in a large family, Rob was born during a difficult time. After his parents lost their small business, his older siblings began working at an early age to help pay the bills, working by day and studying at night. Two of his sisters became elementary teacher assistants, a job that allowed them to contribute early and also pass on their love of learning. It was thanks to their support that Rob learned to read and write by age five. By seven, he was already scribbling short stories into a notebook gifted by his mother.

A lover of black-and-white science fiction films about space, time travel, and wild adventures, Rob had both an overactive imagination and a healthy fear of bathroom monsters. As a teenager, before the era of eBooks and smartphones, he borrowed books from public libraries and read them during commutes to school and work. History, fiction and social issues fascinated him, and it wasn’t long before he discovered authors who would shape his worldview: Hemingway, H. G. Wells, Kafka, Orwell, Asimov, and Huxley.

After earning a degree in Advertising & Marketing, Rob began his professional career at a video production company. He went on to travel the world, writing and directing documentaries on environmental and historical subjects. He filmed ancient ruins in Egypt, explored national parks, and visited archaeological sites across Europe and South America. A 40-day expedition through Peru, following the mysterious paths described in Chariots of the Gods by Erich von Däniken, left a profound impact on him. That journey altered the way he saw the planet, humanity, and the universe itself.

Rob Ramos believes that storytelling is a form of survival, preserving memory, culture, and connection. His stories, both real and imagined, explore who we are, where we’ve been, and the uncertain future that lies ahead.
